Is Your Galaxy Getting One UI 9? Samsung’s Official Android 17 List, and Where the US Rollout Stands
Samsung's official One UI 9 list confirms which Galaxy phones and tablets get Android 17. Here's where the US rollout stands for your model.
In this article
Samsung has finally put its One UI 9 device list in writing. Samsung Japan posted the official roster of Galaxy phones and tablets getting the Android 17-based update on its newsroom this week, and it runs from the Galaxy S26 all the way back to the Galaxy S23 and Z Fold 5.
There’s a catch for American readers: it’s a Japanese list. It skips phones Samsung doesn’t sell in Japan, and plenty of U.S. owners already have the update on their phones. So here’s what the official list says, where the U.S. rollout actually stands, and what to do if your phone isn’t showing the update yet.
Samsung’s official One UI 9 list
According to the Samsung Japan post, as reported by 9to5Google and Android Headlines, these devices are confirmed for One UI 9:
- Galaxy S series: Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra; Galaxy S25 and S25 Ultra; Galaxy S24 and S24 Ultra; Galaxy S24 FE; Galaxy S23 and S23 Ultra
- Foldables: Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5
- Galaxy A series: Galaxy A57, A55, A54, A36 and A25
- Tablets: Galaxy Tab S11 and S11 Ultra; Tab S10, S10+ and S10 Ultra; Tab S10 FE and S10 FE+; Tab S10 Lite; Tab S9, S9+ and S9 Ultra; Tab S9 FE and S9 FE+; Tab S6 Lite (2024); Tab A11; Tab A11+ and A11 5G; Tab Active 5 Pro
Samsung says those updates will land in Japan over October and November 2026. 9to5Google expects entry-level models in other regions to keep trickling out through December and January.
What’s missing, and why you shouldn’t panic
Own a Galaxy S25+, S24+ or S23+? You won’t find it above. Same for the Galaxy S25 FE, the S25 Edge and several A-series phones sold in the U.S. That doesn’t mean they’ve been cut. 9to5Google called the Japanese document “not a conclusive list,” and Android Headlines expects Samsung to add the remaining models as the rollout continues.
The proof is already out there: several of those “missing” phones have been running One UI 9 in the U.S. for weeks.
Where the US rollout stands right now
Samsung started with the Galaxy S26 in September and has been working backward through its lineup. Here’s the U.S. picture as of October 21, based on SammyGuru’s rollout tracker and cross-checked against reports from SammyFans and Forbes:
| Device | US rollout began | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy S26, S26+, S26 Ultra | Sept. 23 | T-Mobile first; unlocked and Verizon by Sept. 28 |
| Galaxy S25 FE, S25 Edge | Late September | Select Verizon units first; wider from Oct. 5 |
| Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7 | Oct. 2 | Unlocked and more carriers from Oct. 5 |
| Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra | Oct. 3 | Unlocked and more carriers from Oct. 5 |
| Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra | Oct. 12 | T-Mobile and AT&T first; unlocked Oct. 21; Verizon unconfirmed |
| Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6 | Oct. 12 | Unlocked units on select carriers |
| Galaxy S24 FE | Oct. 20 | Carrier and unlocked models; Verizon unconfirmed |
| Galaxy S23, S23+, S23 Ultra | Oct. 20 | T-Mobile, AT&T and US Cellular; unlocked and Verizon pending |
| Galaxy Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5 | Oct. 20 | AT&T only so far |
| Galaxy A36, A37, A56 | Oct. 20 | Varies by carrier; unlocked A36 still pending |
Still waiting in the U.S.: the Galaxy S23 FE, which has no firm date, and the Galaxy Tab S10 and Tab S11 tablets, which are still in testing. If you’re on Verizon with an S24 or S23, you’re in the slowest lane right now.
What One UI 9 actually gives you
One UI 9 is Samsung’s take on Android 17, and it’s a feature-heavy release rather than a coat of paint. The highlights:
- My FanCam keeps a chosen person centered while you film a crowd.
- Now Nudge suggests a next step based on what you’re doing.
- Now Brief gets editable cards for health, weather, video and more.
- Warranty and Care is a new Settings section for checking coverage and booking repairs.
- Security Brief and Privacy Alerts flag apps that behave suspiciously, and Scam Detection now covers more calls.
One thing not on Samsung’s list: Gemini Intelligence. Samsung hasn’t said which phones will get it, though Forbes points out that the Galaxy S25 meets Google’s 12GB RAM requirement on paper.
How to get it, plus one word of caution
- Back up your phone first.
- Plug in and connect to Wi-Fi.
- Open Settings > Software update > Download and install.
If nothing shows up, especially on a Verizon-locked phone, give it a few days. Samsung releases updates in waves, and there’s no switch to force one early.
Before you tap install, know that some Galaxy S24 and S25 owners have reported worse battery life since updating. One S25 owner says they now have to charge “3 to 4 times a day.” 9to5Google says those reports aren’t widespread so far. If it happens to you, restart the phone and force-stop any app that’s misbehaving before you even think about a factory reset.
The bottom line: if you bought a Galaxy flagship or foldable in the last three years, One UI 9 is coming, and odds are good it’s already here.
