Samsung’s 2027 Foldable Leak Lists Six Phones, Including a Galaxy Z Slide
A leak says Samsung's 2027 foldable lineup grows to six phones, including a Galaxy Z Fold 9 Pro and a rollable Galaxy Z Slide.

Samsung usually launches two or three foldables a year. If a new leak is right, 2027 could bring six.
The list comes from tipster Anthony, who posts as @TheGalox_ on X. It names the Galaxy Z Flip 9, Galaxy Z Fold 9, Galaxy Z Fold 9 Ultra, a brand-new Galaxy Z Fold 9 Pro, a Galaxy Z TriFold 2 and a rollable Galaxy Z Slide. The leak was a single image with names and very little else, but 9to5Google, Android Authority and a string of other outlets have picked it up, and the timing is hard to ignore. Apple just walked into Samsung’s category with a $1,999 iPhone Duo.
The six phones in the leak
- Galaxy Z Flip 9: The expected successor to this year’s $1,199 Flip 8.
- Galaxy Z Fold 9: The mainstream book-style foldable, following the Fold 8.
- Galaxy Z Fold 9 Ultra: The follow-up to the taller, pricier Fold 8 Ultra.
- Galaxy Z Fold 9 Pro: New. The name suggests a middle tier between the Fold 9 and Fold 9 Ultra, but nobody has shared a spec or design detail.
- Galaxy Z TriFold 2: A second try at the tri-folding phone. The leak says it arrives first.
- Galaxy Z Slide: New. A phone whose screen extends as the body slides outward, instead of folding.
The tipster also claims every model gets improvements to battery, thickness and weight. No numbers came with that claim, and no prices or dates beyond “2027” came with any of it.
How much of this should you believe?
Treat it as a plausible roadmap, not a confirmed lineup. Android Authority notes that four of the six names line up with an earlier report of Samsung’s 2027 plans. The Fold 9 Pro and the Slide are the new additions, and nothing else corroborates them yet. Gagadget, citing Nokia Mobile, points out that there are no supply-chain signals such as codenames or regulatory filings for either device.
The Slide deserves extra skepticism. Samsung Display showed a “Mobile Slidable” concept at MWC 2026 that grew from 5.1 to 6.7 inches, so the hardware exists. But earlier reports pointed to a rollable phone in the first half of 2028, and a concept on a trade-show table isn’t a product on a carrier shelf. Pulling that forward a year would be aggressive.
The TriFold 2 is easier to buy into. The original Galaxy Z TriFold reached the U.S. on January 30 at $2,899 and, by most accounts, sold in small numbers. 9to5Google reports the sequel should be lighter and easier to manufacture, which addresses the biggest complaints about the first one. The leak says it lands first, possibly soon after the Galaxy S27 series.
The iPhone Duo changed the math
Why would Samsung double its foldable lineup? Because the market just got a lot bigger, and a lot more crowded.
Apple’s iPhone Duo sold out within minutes of opening for pre-orders, and new orders now ship in late January. Samsung says that’s been good for its own sales. In a statement reported by Forbes and 9to5Google, Samsung’s UK mobile VP said “customer demand for the Galaxy Z Fold8 family has increased 16% since launch,” with “a 300% increase in active Google searches for Samsung foldables in the last month alone.”
Samsung also has a hardware point to prove. The iPhone Duo’s battery, listed at 4,883mAh on its EU energy label, is bigger than the Galaxy Z Fold 8, the Fold 8 Ultra and even Google’s Pixel 11 Pro Fold, which comes in at 4,658mAh.
| Phone | U.S. starting price | Battery |
|---|---|---|
| Apple iPhone Duo | $1,999 | 4,883mAh |
| Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra | $2,099 | 4,854mAh |
| Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 | $1,899 | 4,660mAh |
Those gaps are small, a couple hundred mAh at most, but “the iPhone lasts longer” is exactly the headline Samsung doesn’t want next summer. A lineup-wide battery bump would be the obvious answer.
A wider lineup also lets Samsung fight on price from both ends. A Fold 9 Pro could sit between the regular and Ultra models, while the Flip 9 keeps the entry point well under the iPhone Duo. Right now the Fold 8 is already selling for $1,699 on Amazon, $300 under Apple’s foldable.
Should you wait for the Galaxy Z Fold 9?
For most people, no. Samsung’s book-style foldables usually launch in late summer, which means a Fold 9 is likely the better part of a year away, and the leak doesn’t change that. Here’s how I’d think about it:
- If you want a foldable now: The Galaxy Z Fold 8 at $1,699 is the value pick. It’s $200 below its $1,899 launch price, and unlike the iPhone Duo, you can get one this week.
- If you want the biggest battery and screen: The Fold 8 Ultra starts at $2,099. Its 4,854mAh cell is within 29mAh of the iPhone Duo.
- If you’re curious about the TriFold or a rollable: Wait. The first TriFold was a $2,899 experiment, and the sequel is the version worth watching.
- If you’re on a Fold 6 or older: The Fold 8 is already a big jump. Waiting a year for a rumored Pro model you know nothing about is a gamble.
The bottom line
Six foldables in one year sounds like a lot, and it’s possible not every name on this list ships. But the direction makes sense. Samsung spent seven years building the foldable market mostly alone, and now that Apple has shown up, the company’s best defense is to cover every price point and form factor before the iPhone Duo 2 arrives. The Galaxy Z Slide is the wildcard. The Fold 9 Pro is the one to watch.
