The Galaxy S27 Price Leak Looks Like Good News. Read the Fine Print
A leak puts the Galaxy S27 at $899, a new S27 Pro at $1,299 and the Ultra at $1,399. Rising memory costs could still change that.

The Galaxy S27 is still months away, and its price tags have already leaked. If tipster @phonefuturist is right, Samsung’s 2027 flagships will start at $899 in the U.S., the same launch price as the Galaxy S26, even as memory costs keep climbing. That sounds like a win. Look a little closer and the lineup says a lot about where Samsung wants you to spend.
The leaked lineup
The post on X, published October 7 and picked up by 9to5Google, Android Headlines and Android Central, lists four phones instead of three. The newcomer is a Galaxy S27 Pro that slots between the Plus and the Ultra. Here’s how the leaked U.S. targets compare with what the matching Galaxy S26 models cost today:
| Model | Leaked S27 U.S. price | Matching S26 price today | Display panel (leak) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Galaxy S27 | $899 | $999 (launched at $899) | M14+ OLED |
| Galaxy S27+ | $1,099 | $1,199 (launched at $1,099) | M14+ OLED |
| Galaxy S27 Pro | $1,299 | No equivalent | M16 OLED |
| Galaxy S27 Ultra | $1,399 (up to $1,499) | $1,399 (launched at $1,299) | M16 OLED |
The tipster labeled these “current targets, subject to change,” and international prices run about $100 higher across the board.
“Cheaper” only because the S26 got pricier
On paper, the S27 undercuts today’s Galaxy S26 by $100. That’s only because Samsung raised U.S. prices on the entire S26 family by $100 on October 1. The S26 launched at $899 and costs $999 now. An $899 S27 is a price hold, not a price cut.
The Ultra is the tell. The S26 Ultra launched at $1,299 and jumped to $1,399 with the October increase. The leaked S27 Ultra starts at $1,399, which means this fall’s hike quietly becomes the new floor for Samsung’s best phone, with some configurations reportedly reaching $1,499.
The screen split matters more than the price
The more interesting detail is the display. According to the leak, the S27 and S27+ stick with Samsung’s M14+ OLED panel, while the S27 Pro and S27 Ultra move to the newer M16. 9to5Google says the M16 “could mean” a built-in privacy display on the two pricier models, and Android Central reads it the same way. Android Headlines points out that the leak itself never mentions a privacy feature, so treat that part as informed speculation.
Either way, it’s a familiar Samsung move: create a new tier and give it one clear hardware advantage. A $1,299 Pro with the better panel is a nudge for anyone shopping the $1,099 Plus to find another $200.
Why these numbers might not survive
One word: memory. Android Headlines’ Alexander Maxham called the pricing “a little too optimistic,” and it’s hard to argue. This week Korean outlet Money Today reported that Samsung is cutting phone production by 20 to 30 percent this quarter because rising RAM costs have wiped out its profit per device. TrendForce data cited in that report put a 12GB phone memory package at about $145 in the second quarter, up 175 percent year over year.
Samsung is expected to announce the S27 series in early 2027, likely in February, per Android Headlines. That leaves several months of memory price swings between this leak and launch day.
Our take
If the leak holds, the base Galaxy S27 at $899 would be the smart buy of the lineup, and the S27 Pro the model to scrutinize hardest once reviews land. Holding the line at $899 in this memory market would be a small victory for buyers. Just expect Samsung to make you pay for the better screen, and don’t put off a needed upgrade today betting on a cheaper S27 tomorrow.
