T-Mobile’s T-Mix Plans Turn YouTube Premium, Gemini and Your Next Phone Into ‘Picks.’ Here’s the Math
T-Mobile’s T-Mix plans start at $55 and let you spend Picks on YouTube Premium, Google AI Pro, Netflix or a new phone. Here’s who wins.

T-Mobile just tore up the idea that a phone plan comes with a fixed set of freebies. Its new T-Mix lineup, announced on October 26 and launching in November, gives every account a pool of “Picks” that you spend on whatever you actually use: YouTube Premium, Google AI Pro, Netflix, Xbox Game Pass, Delta miles, or a discounted phone. Want a Netflix bundle you’ll never open? You no longer have to pay for one.
That sounds like a pure win. It isn’t, quite. Phones and perks come out of the same pool, the free third line is gone, and there’s no price guarantee. Whether T-Mix saves you money depends almost entirely on how many lines you have and how often you upgrade.
The three T-Mix plans and what they cost
There are three tiers: Standard, More and Loaded. Prices below are per month with AutoPay, before taxes and fees, as reported by Talk Android from T-Mobile’s rate sheet.
| Plan | 1 line | 2 lines | 3 lines | 4 lines | Picks (1/2/3/4 lines) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| T-Mix Standard | $55 | $85 | $100 | $115 | 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 |
| T-Mix More | $75 | $130 | $155 | $180 | 2 / 4 / 6 / 7 |
| T-Mix Loaded | $95 | $160 | $200 | $240 | 3 / 6 / 9 / 11 |
The network side scales the way you’d expect. Standard caps premium data at 50GB and streams video in SD (480p). More unlocks unlimited premium data, up to 4K video and 60GB of high-speed hotspot. Loaded bumps hotspot to 250GB, adds 15GB of high-speed data in 215-plus countries and 30GB in Canada and Mexico, and knocks watch and tablet lines down to $5 a month.
Every tier keeps the standard T-Mobile member perks that don’t cost a Pick, including T-Mobile Tuesdays, MLB.TV and a Delta in-flight drink on eligible flights. Discounted versions for 55+ customers, military and veterans, first responders and college students are coming, but T-Mobile hasn’t posted those prices yet.
What a Pick buys you
Picks are priced like a menu. Most services cost one or two; the premium stuff costs more.
- 1 Pick: Google AI Plus, YouTube Premium Lite, Netflix Standard with ads, Hulu with ads, Apple TV, Paramount+ Essential, DashPass, SiriusXM All Access (app), Pandora Plus, 500 Delta SkyMiles a month
- 2 Picks: Google AI Pro, YouTube Premium, Xbox Game Pass Premium, Apple Music, Pandora Premium
- 3 Picks: ad-free Netflix Standard, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate
- 4 Picks: ESPN Unlimited, Netflix Premium
- Wireless extras: T-Satellite and Optimized Video Calling cost one Pick each (video calling is included on Loaded)
For Android owners, the Google options are the interesting ones. One line on T-Mix More ($75) can go entirely to Google AI Pro, which bundles Gemini’s higher-end models and 5TB of storage. A single Loaded line ($95) can cover AI Pro plus YouTube Premium Lite. That’s a real perk if you were already paying Google for either.
“One-size-fits-all was simple for the industry, but for customers it turned into one-size-fits-nobody,” T-Mobile CMO Allan Samson said in the announcement.
The catch: your phone deal spends the same currency
Here’s the part T-Mobile’s marketing glosses over. Device promotions cost one to three Picks per line, and those Picks stay locked for the length of the promotion. The examples T-Mobile shared with GeekWire put an iPhone at two Picks and an iPhone Pro at three, tied up for the three-year payment plan. Samson called Picks “essentially a form of currency,” and that’s exactly right: a currency you can run out of.
Take a family of three on Loaded. That’s $200 a month and nine Picks. If everyone grabs a flagship deal at three Picks each, the streaming and AI perks are gone for years. Upgrade one phone instead and you keep six Picks for YouTube Premium, Gemini and Netflix.
A few other rules worth knowing before you switch:
- You can change partner perks four times a year: three change windows plus an annual “Remix.” Swapping outside a window may cost a fee.
- Unused Picks don’t roll over to the next quarter and have no cash value.
- If you already pay Netflix or YouTube directly, you may need to cancel that yourself to avoid paying twice.
- T-Mobile can change the perks and how many Picks they cost, with changes taking effect the following quarter.
Who comes out ahead
Samson told GeekWire that one- and two-line accounts should pay roughly $5 to $10 a month less than on current plans, while a five-line account would pay $10 to $15 more. Combine that with the end of the free third line and the pattern is clear: T-Mix rewards small households that keep their phones a while, and it quietly charges big families that upgrade everyone at once.
The price-lock question matters too. T-Mobile’s current top plan, Experience Beyond, comes with a five-year price guarantee. T-Mix doesn’t, and Samson was candid about it: “We didn’t want to be disingenuous.” He said partner prices are set for the next couple of years, which is not the same thing as your bill being frozen.
Should you switch?
Nobody is forced to. GeekWire reports that existing customers can move to T-Mix in November or keep their current plan, and T-Mobile has been testing it since October 1 at 37 stores in Kansas City.
My take: if you’re a single line or a couple, you don’t plan to upgrade this year, and you’re already paying for YouTube Premium or Google AI Pro, T-Mix More is likely the best deal T-Mobile has offered in a while. If you’re a family of four or five on an older plan with a free line and a price lock, sit tight. Run your own math in the T-Life app when the plans go live, and count your Picks before you count your savings.
