Nvidia's 2019 Shield TV Pro now costs $299.99. Here is who should still buy one.
As of October 2, the Nvidia Shield TV Pro costs $299.99, up from the $199 it has sold for since 2019.
Nvidia says component costs, including memory, have risen substantially across the industry. The cheaper Shield TV is effectively gone.
The Pro never got a hardware refresh. It runs 64-bit Android TV but lacks AV1 decoding and the Google TV interface.
Google TV Streamer costs $149 and Amazon's new Fire TV Stick 4K is $59.99, though Amazon's stick drops Android.
