Code hints that work and personal calendars could soon get their own default event length.
Google Calendar for Android version 2026.38 contains a per-calendar default event duration setting. It is not live yet.
A work calendar could default to 15-minute events while a personal calendar defaults to an hour.
As found, the new option would replace the single global default rather than sit alongside it.
On Android, go to Settings, General, Default event duration. On the web, Speedy meetings trims 5 or 10 minutes.
Per-calendar defaults are a smart fix, but Google should keep a global default that calendars can override.
