The $59.99 Fire TV Stick 4K is faster, but Vega OS ends sideloading for good.
Amazon's Fire TV Stick 4K went on sale September 30 for $59.99. It runs Vega OS instead of Android-based Fire OS.
It has a 1.7GHz quad-core chip, 8GB storage, Wi-Fi 6, HDR10+ and AV1. Amazon claims it is 20 to 40% faster in most tasks.
It drops to $29.99 for Prime Big Deal Days on October 6 and 7. For Dolby Vision, you need the $84.99 4K Max.
Vega OS blocks apps from outside Amazon's store. Amazon says the change protects customers from piracy, malware and fraud.
Great for mainstream streaming apps. If you want an Android box you can tinker with, keep your old stick or pick Google TV.
