A few power-button presses can call 911 and share your location. Here's how to set it up now.
Android's Emergency SOS can call 911, share your location and record video. Setup takes about five minutes on Android 12 or later.
Go to Settings, Safety and emergency, Emergency SOS, then Start setup. Add contacts, allow location and pick how calls start.
Open Settings, Safety and emergency, and turn on Send SOS messages. Choose auto-call, attachments, contacts and side-key presses.
In 2023 some 911 centers saw calls rise up to 30% from this feature. Touch-and-hold activation is safer against pocket presses.
Add medical info, check your contacts, and remember SOS fails in airplane mode or Battery Saver. A voice trigger may come later.
